The Washington Post is up with a must-read opinion piece by William McRaven, the retired admiral who led the raid against Osama Bin Laden. In it, McRaven laments that good men and women don’t last long in the Trump administration, especially if they speak the truth to the president.

“As Americans, we should be frightened — deeply afraid for the future of the nation. When good men and women can’t speak the truth, when facts are inconvenient, when integrity and character no longer matter, when presidential ego and self-preservation are more important than national security — then there is nothing left to stop the triumph of evil.”

McRaven is especially upset about the departure of his friend, Joe MacGuire, who was fired as director of national intelligence by Trump.
